Common Questions

Do we need any prior experience?
None at all. All skills are taught from the ground up. The whole point is to learn alongside your kid. You're not expected to know anything coming in โ€” in fact, not knowing is part of what makes it work.
What ages are appropriate?
Kids ages 6โ€“16. Activities are adapted to what each child can handle. A 7-year-old and a 14-year-old will have different roles in the same activity โ€” and that's intentional. Older kids get more challenge and responsibility; younger kids get wonder and scaffolded success.
Is it safe? What about tools and fire?
Yes. Safety is the foundation everything else is built on. Every tool has a proper introduction. Every fire activity starts with a safety brief. Alex carries full first aid supplies and holds CPR/First Aid certification. Kids handle tools at the level they've earned โ€” which is part of the pedagogy, not just the safety plan.
What should we bring?
Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty, sturdy shoes (closed-toe, no flip-flops), sunscreen, a water bottle, and your kid. For the weekend program: a change of clothes per day. Everything else โ€” gear, food, shelter, tools โ€” is provided.
